The following presentation will document the life of one of the early masterminds of Soviet Cinema. Dziga Vertov was an influential filmmaker, best remembered for his works of the late 1920's and the early 1930's. This examination will look quite closely at his most famous film Man With a Movie Camera as well as his first sound film Enthusiasm. Before looking at these two films, the first pages of this presentation provide a brief biography on Vertov as well as examine the politics that were influencing the films of the 1920's and 1930's. The section regarding Stalin and the Five year plans has been included in order to illustrate what an impact the implementation of such plans had on the film industry.
