Computer Forensics & E Discovery

Location : 11 University Gardens

Computer forensics and E-discovery (CFED) refer to the acquisition, examination, analysis and reporting of information found on digital devices such as computers and digital modes of data transport like local area networks, Wide Area Networks and mobile phone networks. As well as the more commonly known roles - investigating devices for law enforcement or intelligence agencies - computer forensics specialists are increasingly employed by major financial and management institutions and are a critical component of many corporate investigations. Computer Forensic specialists examine and analyze data on computer media such as disc drives, USB drives, mobile phones, and even games machines. As well as the technical prowess necessary for that task, a student needs the knowledge and the analytic ability to evaluate the recovered data, to document the findings comprehensively and clearly, and the skills to defend them in a court of law.

It is not a career for everyone. Forensic computing work demands great attention to detail, the technical knowledge and problem solving skills of an engineer, the fluency of expression of a professional writer, and stamina as an expert witness. We can help you develop the knowledge and practice the skills, but the inner qualities are something you will have to bring with you to the course.
