SSD -
A standard desktop is an environment for departments and individuals who have relatively straightforward requirements including: electronic mail, web browsing, document preparation, etc. It provides a common base onto which user (or departmental) specific software can be installed.
Microsoft Exchange Email -
Microsoft Exchange is a messaging and collaborative software product, which can be used by registered members of University Staff. Features include electronic mail, shared calendars and tasks and support for mobile and web based access to information. It is included in the Standard Staff Desktop (SSD)
CSCE -
The CSCE offers a consistent core set of applications and settings but allows departments the flexibility to augment the standard with more specialised applications to meet their needs. The latest versions of the CSCE offer further flexibilty to students by storing personal settings on the student's filestore.
IT Helpdesk -
IT Helpdesk is the system which is used throughout the central IT support departments as well as Colleges to log, track and manage all reported IT faults and requests for change.
IT Helpdesk's primary role is IT call-management, i.e. it provides a central repository where incidents/faults and requests for service or change to local IT environments can be recorded and progressed through their relevant life-cycles.
