Sarah Jones
HATII Preservation Resources Officer After completing a MA in German and Economic and Social History at the University of Glasgow, Sarah became interested in a career in archives so undertook a one-year traineeship jointly based at Glasgow University Archive Services and the Greater Glasgow Health Board Archive. This provided an excellent foundation for the MSc in Information Management and Preservation run by HATII that she went on to complete. Having chosen the digital strand of the MSc course, Sarah was keen to utilise her digital archiving skills so began working for the Performing Arts subject centre of the Arts and Humanities Data Service in September 2006. As Collections Development Officer she is responsible for liaising with depositors, advising on best practice in digital resource creation and ensuring performing arts research outputs are preserved and made accessible in the future. Sarah’s MSc dissertation The whole is greater than the sum of the parts: cross-domain work between Scottish museums, libraries, archives and galleries highlights her interest in collaboration and desire to find ways of improving services by traversing traditional boundaries. She is currently engaged in research on performing arts collections, considering the documentation challenges posed by the ephemerality of performance and the reliability of different representations. |
